Is there is a limit on number of seconds/minutes that a user can use a MP3 song as an alarm.

I actually just this morning wondered the same thing. So...i stay in bed and listened (i like my alarm mp3). It played through the whole song and started to repeat. That was all the answer that I needed so I shut it off at that point!

I don't know how you got it to play through the whole thing. Been using mp3's as an alarm since the phone was released and I have NEVER got it to play through the whole thing. Usually it will cut off after a few sec. (about 20-30 sec) and then will loop. Maybe you have OS 4.3 and they changed it, but I'm pretty sure OS 4.2, the alarm tone does NOT play for the length of the mp3, someone confirm please.

Maybe its a new feature for 4.3 because I only get the same length as when the phone ring for a call. Im jumpin on the 4.3/4.5 bandwagon now!

I also use mp3's for the alarm and mine plays for about 10-20 seconds and loops

I use 4.2 and MyAlarm (free) and it will play full length MP3's, plus let you set a different alarm for each day if you want. Way cool
