I have just confirmed with Sprint's Int'l department that my 8830 would indeed work in the countries that I will be visiting. Even though Data will be through GPRS, it's still a lot better than nothing.

But my question is, is the "*99#" dial up number a carrier access code?...or simply an initialization string inside the BB in order to tether and pass data traffic through the USB? If it is simply an initialization string to access the BB, then I should have no problem. But if it is a carrier access number, there will be no guarantee that it will work--for I will need to use the local access number in the countries I am visiting.

I have tethered in the past using VZW and a WindowsMobile phone, and the #777 access number would not work in other countries. Maybe it's just Verizon, but I am not sure.

    Thanks
