I downloaded some ringtones and the volume is so low. How can I boost up it up? Is there a program that I can download to control the volume settings of the ringtones I download to my 8830we?

There are a number of threads on this issue - the 8830 appears to have a limited volume. You can tweak it somewhat in the PROFILES section (a speaker like icon) but many folks have downloaded LOUDER mp3 files in order to hear the ringing. Or they use a program like audacity to boost the vol on their favorite mp3 files.

verizon suggested I update the software and this does help, they told me they are aware of a bug in the software

Try this tone for your ringer. I have the 8830 as well and its the best I have found in terms of volume.
