Ring Tone Volume! You have to read.......
Hi,
My name is Cody and this is my story on my 8830 with Verizon.........
Last night I finally got the approval from our store, I could upload my BB with the new software update from verizon. The new update from verizon is 4.2.2.174 - this update included several new options for my phone including the new ringer boost!!!!:) After I down loaded the new software I check out how well my ringer worked, to my surprise after an hour of messing with this program nothing was different..
I called Verizon and I was on hold + talk time for about 38mins, after they asked me several question about the phone they determined that it was nothing they could fix so they put me in contact with BB!
This is part of the story I wanted to go to the Nutt House and go crazy!!!! I can't believe that I was on hold with BB support for about 1h 23min - Finally to my surprise I heard a voice asking me what problems I had with my BB; I said thanks to her and said their is a god!
I told here my story, she was very clear with me at first and told me she was sorry for the wait and we'll see if we can fix the problem. She had me do a new reset on my BB desk top and down load the software again (They say that if you do new software that it will require a reset on your BB) - not true! This is were it all goes wrong, after an hour loading my BB all over she wanted me to go to options to find out what software was loaded up on my BB. I go threw the steps to find out that my BB loaded the old software which was 4.2.2.143 - I believe!
After I read the software to her, she told me that we had loaded the wrong program and we would have to through the hole process again - 2h later we finally got me all booted up, she told me to set my BB on high ringer and she would call. She called and again to my surprise:confused: the phone ringer was still the same volume! I told her that it was the same volume as before and she had me check the options to see if the right software loaded - which it did - 4.2.2.174. She had me put my phone up to my work phone and do a test in volume compared to the audio player - she said there was a difference between the two but she the hole problem of my call was that I couldn't hear my volume at all - this is when I started to slam my work phone on the desk (The keyboard is covering the damage)!
I work around loud Diesel Trucks all day and its hard to hear my ringer at all and I have it set on Calypso because its the loudest and most annoying ringer on the phone - hence annoying - my workers give me a bad time about the ring tone!
After I slammed my phone on the desk I told her the reason why I was calling again, she finally understood the problem that It's not that you can't hear the ringer it's just not load enough compared to the audio player on the BB. I asked her to put somebody that knew of the problem. This gentleman informed me that BB is trying to fix the problem so that the volume on the ringer is as loud as the audio player, he also informed me on this last software issue was not clear and it was not suppose to have in the details that theirs is a ringer boost - there is no ringer boost in the 4.2.2.174 software!
After a total of 4h 13min I finally hung up the phone and shook my head in disgust. The gentleman did tell me that BB and Verizon are working on it and the next software update will include the ringer boost! - I won't hold my breath but I might cross my fingers!
I hope this story helps out the fellow BB members of the process it takes to find information out! I know a lot about these 8830 so if there is any question I'll be glad to answer if I can!
Thanks
