    8830 on 4.5.0.51 on VZW.

I have a question about Device Memory Limit. Media > Options > Device Memory Limit.

I have three options. 5mb, 12mb, 15mb. What should it be set to? Can anyone tell me what the different sizes mean? I am a little confused as to where I should have it.

    Thanks.

Anyone with any information on this? Can anyone with an 8830 possibly post their settings as far as the device memory limit goes?

Media / Options brings up your setting page.

Device Memory Limit was originally set to 15 Mb reserved for Media file extraction and playback.

That was plenty, so 12 Mb and later 5 Mb were added to allow from heavy media users or heavy data user to customize their memory use.

I have never run into a playback issue with 5 Mb, that frees up additional memory for other things.

It is the amount of memory that is reserved for media capabilities. Just because it is only reserving 5MB that you have it set at does not mean that is all that it has to use. It will use all memory that is available, so as reed stated I would go with the 5MB setting. Hope that this helps you to understand what the setting is for a little better.

I do not use my phone for any media functions. I have no videos, very few pictures, and a few ringtones on my phone. Should I set mine to 5?

5MB would be the best setting for you.

I was under the impression that this reserved device memery, I.E 12mb so your BB wouldn't crawl thru applications. (12mb being what I've read as the ness. amount of free file space to have your BB run smoothly) If not, is their a way to limit or reserve memery so you dont go under that amount and slow your BB down??
