I've been given my bosses phone "work on" and since I do not own a Blackberry myself I have a couple of questions about the whole wiping/restoring process. I need to wipe the phone to sync it to a new enterprise account and I am assuming that all I need to do is install the desktop management software and back up the phone. But how to I restore the data and apps without doing a full restore that will put the old enterprise data back on the phone? And do I need to worry about the storage card data?

Or is there a way to just wipe the enterprise data from the phone? I only saw "wipe" in the menu and was nervous to continue past that...

I've been told that if I loose any contact info/text messages/apps/app-data/calendar info then I loose my job.

Well we had BES from one third party company, but they got bought out and we started experiencing a lot of problems so we just switched to a new host. They recomended wiping the phone before we tried to set up their parameters.
