I see that I'm not alone with the poor quality of the phone in with the 8830.
After trying several blue tooth styles, I finally found one the fixed the phone sound issues with the 8830.

The JAWBONE is excellent. It comlpletely eliminates all noise. Now people have stop telling me to close my car window when I'm talking to them. I never had the window open. Go figure it...

It's not cheap, but it's worth it.
