Hello, I am new to Blackberry and this web site. I have a 8830 and am on Page pulse Cellular and want ti activate the mms feature in the phone I call Page Pulse yesterday and they advised me that the mms feature was activated through them so it should work.
My daughter bought an 8330 and showed it to me last night and in her option section it has mms listed but in my 8830 it is missing, could anyone help me.
The 8330 has a camera, the 8830 does not. That's a key difference. I used to have an 8830 with Verizon. It did not have any MMS capability, supposedly because it didn't have a camera. I would be very surprised if you have MMS capability on an 8830 with your carrier, regardless of what they told you.
Thanks for the reply Jeff; I would have thought that it would be a software setting and I say that because my wife has the same issue with her 8230 flip phone and hers has a camera.
I can't speak to the 8230. I'm not familiar with it. The 8830 is a 64MB world phone. The software and memory needed for the additional radio means the 8830 has less free memory than other 64MB devices of its generation. I assume, but don't know for sure, that lack of memory and lack of a camera is why RIM didn't put MMS capability in it. They may have reasoned that since you have no ability to take a picture, you don't need the ability to send MMS. Whatever the reason, I don't think it is possible to enable an MMS capability on the 8830. I'd be happy to be proven wrong. The 3rd party app CrunchSMS might give you the ability to receive SMS. It's free and worth a look. Google CrunchSMS to find it.
