to do it easily you can just go to options then screen/keyboard and set the side convenience key to keyboard lock!

then you can always lock it on demand!

You can then press "ALT + Enter" to lock the Keypad..

very true, that is what i have been doing lately. easier then locking it for me.

On the 8830, you can also press the MUTE button at the top of the unit to put the unit into standby and NO KEYS will affect it until you press the MUTE again (altho, if you have the unit turn off/on automatically (overnight for instance), when it turns on again, the Mute will have been over-ridden until you press Mute again.
