Perhaps I am overlooking something. but I don't think i am. When I pull my battery and put it back in - the BB restarts and my keyboard and track ball light up. But, they never light up again. Do I have a setting wrong somewhere? Or might I need to do a hard reset?

The blackberries have a light sensor so it doesn't waste battery when there is enough ambient light.

Does the keyboard not light up even in a dark room?

Nope - not even in a dark room. Could the sensor be shot? Or just need reset?

A battery pull will usually solve quirky little problems like that. If that doesn't help, then maybe it is the sensor. I don't think there are any other settings that control that.

By hard reset, do you mean a master clear? I don't think that's necessary.

I've noticed that most people here call a battery pull a "hard reset" and a Alt-Shift-Del a "soft reset".

Ok - showing my ignorance here. Yes, I meant a master clear. I tried the battery pull. how do I do a soft reset then?
