I have both an active 8830 (Verizon) and 8800 (ATT).. I did some test downloads and I noticed that the ATT on the Edge network (about 20-30k) was just as fast, and in some cases, faster than the Evdo connection which is supposed to be 1.5mbps or higher..

    whats going on?

I'm with you...I have a Verizon wireless internet card on my Laptop that consitantly connects at 350k-700k...

My Sprint 8830 downloads slower than my Verizon wireless internet card.

Maybe the EVDO works as advertised if you are using the blackberry 8830 as a tethered device?

Anybody have any experience with this?

I dunno.. I have a Sprint Windows Mobile device (ppc6700), and when I tether it, I get at least 1.5mbps and in some cases (good signal) faster..
