Okay, so I downloaded a different version of Spot for my 8830. Whenever I start it, it says:

The application spot requested access to your GPS location information. Do you wish to grant access?
    Yes - No

    At the bottom, it says:

    Calling Modules:
    net_rim_services_impl
    net_rim_locationapi
    spot
I'm wondering if the two modules, net_rim_services_impl and net_rim_locationapi, are the two modules that need to be edited (hacked) to enable the GPS? By the way, when I launch the software and click yes to the above mentioned message, it says searching for the gps rather than saying it doesn't exist. I'm wondering if we're a little closer here.

Well, it's closer. I took these 2 files from an 8800 OS load and put them on the 8830. The phone will not go into Options. It throws up GPS Registry location errors. Looks like someone with the Blackberry JDE will have to open up the .cod files and take a peek inside.
