I'm looking for external speakers to stream music from iheartradio, Pandora and Slacker. I went to Radio Shack and the sales rep said the headphone jack on the 8830 is smaller than the standard size, but recommended an adapter to connect to speakers. I connected the phone to the adapter and the adapter to the speakers, but it continued to stream music from the phone and not the external speakers. Any recommendations for this problem? Thanks!

Only certain adapters will work with the 8830. There were a lot of posts about it when the 8830 was new. If you search for "headphone adapter" in this forum, you should find the right info. It will probably be in posts that are about two years old.

just get a bluetooth stereo speaker. i have a nice sony one...

just make sure you disable bluetooth when you arent using it to avoid battery drain...
