I have a user that when he tries to save edits to an Address Book entry on his BBerry 8830 WE (he is adding text to the notes area of the contact) he gets the error message: PIN must be 8 characters long. He gets this on every contact that he tries to edit the notes section on.

He's out of the office right now e-mailing me to see if I know what could be going on. I've searched Crackberry and the web and can't find anything out about this error message.

I see that my BBerry does have a PIN field as one of the contacts fields when editing on the BBerry, but mine is blank, I can add notes and save with no issues.

    Any ideas?

If you exchange PIN messages with other blackberry users, their pin numbers are stored in that field. Having Pin numbers stored will not cause the error you're describing. I've never seen it before, and I have pin numbers in some of my contacts.

Have you had him try a battery pull?
