What's the most secure way to change batteries in the 8830 to avoid losing stored data?

You won't lose any stored data by changing the battery. You can always save our data just in case by doing a backup on desktop manager

lol, something tells me someone came from a Palm PDA a long time ago. The memory in the Blackberry is different then that in piddly little PDA devices. You will not loose info on a BB even if it was without a battery in it for xxx years.

You won't loose data, just power the device off then pull the battery, and swap it out. I have never had an issue.
