I have the BB 8830 WE with v 4.2.2.66 (using Verizon). When I power off the BB, I cannot turn it back on without having to take the battery out. When I first purchased the BB, I had no problem for the first couple of months. Now for some reason or another, I can't get it to turn on without having to take the battery out, and putting it back in. Anyone had this problem? Sounds like a hardware issue. What do you think?
Since you can use the power key to shutdown and adjust the screen brightness (least I am assuming you can) that I doubt it is a hardware problem. It to me sounds more like an OS problem. Have you installed any third party applications the could possible be interfering with the unit when it is in its sort-of powered down state? Have you configured the Auto On/Off feature? If you have you might want to disable it and see if the problem goes away.
That would be my only suggestions at this point. I personally have not seen this problem.
