When I call my voicemail it acts like I am calling myself and I have to leave a message. I am supposed to hear the prompt for a password etc to get my voicemails but I just hear myself telling me to leave a message. I have checked everything and I can't figure out why I can't get into my voice mail.
Yes it does the same for my bb 8830 but it just goes to my message as if I am wanting to leave myself a message. I have no option at all to pick up mesages
Verizon off the cell phone *86 will call voicemail are you dialing 10 digits or leading with a 1 then the number? And are you in home covrage 1XEV. I dunno sprints but using wap I dunno the carrier you are on. If dialing 10 digits you don't get the prompt to enter password call the carrier.

My Friend Was Having The Same Problem With His Curve So I Did The Following On His Phone And It Worked!!!
Go To Your Call Log
Hit The Menu Key"
Scroll Down To "View Speed Dial List"
Scroll Down To The Letter W (That Should Be The #1 Button For Voicemail)
Delete Whatever Is There
Put You 10 Digit Cell Phone Number
Save It
Do A Battery Pull
Thanks for your help PHADE. I tried that. Actually my bb number was already there but I did as you suggested. Still not working. I give up and will call my provider tomorrow and let you know what they said it might have been :-)
Just an update. Apparently it is normal to hear your own voice mail message when you call it. You then have to hit the # sign to get to the prompts to listen to the messages. I was expecting to call my voice mail and then just hear my messages etc
Interesting. In this case it's a limitation of the voicemail system. Usually when the system detects a call from the actual cell subscriber it automatically prompts for your password. I'm going to call voicemail with my caller id disabled, but I doubt it will work to trick it into not picking up with just the password prompt.
BTW, if you call from a landline you can do the same thing (Hit #) when you heard your message to get into voicemail. Comes in hands if you don't want to burn minues listening to a lot of voicemail... damn carriers should let you check voicemail for free.

Check your prompt level. On Verizon, that's in the administrative settings. I don't have to listen to my message before I hear messages.
