    As you know the 8830 comes with 64MB of internal memory which only about 35-45MB is free for applications. Is there a way for me to designate that apps be stored on my memory card and not the internal memory in a similar way one can direct were media files can be stored?

    No, it isn't possible with any BlackBerry OS. Its so annoying.
