Any one know if I can get my 8830 from Bell in canada to work with Rogers. It was a company phone, the company went bankrupt, and thier is no one to release phone.??

Rogers is GSM and Bell is CDMA. Unless I'm mistaken, the GSM frequencies for Rogers are the same as the US based ones and those are not turned on on the GSM chipset for the 8830. So, the answer is no.

But, what exactly do you mean by "release phone"? Clarify please.

The GSM slot unlock (if it is locked) wouldn't come from the private company anyway. It comes from the carrier that branded the device, in this case Bell. However, I think the SIM slot may already be unlocked on the Bell 8830s. I know in the US Sprint is unlocked and only Verizon locks theirs. Put the SIM in. If it doesn't say invalid sim, then it's unlocked, but if you cannot connect to a GSM tower it's because the frequencies are the same in Canada as they are in the US, which leads to the answer above in my first post.
