Does anyone know if the 8830 has an airplane mode so I can keep using the media player in flight?

I agree, I think if you just go to connections and turn the Mobile network off, you should be fine.

The Northwest (make that Northworst) stewardess still gave me a hassle. "It will interfere with our instruments and you don't want the plane to crash"....

If it crashed it probably had more to do with the shoddy maintenance than my BB wireless signals (that were turned off..... including Bluetooth).

Really? I flew on Southwest recently and they didn't give me a problem. They were more concerned that my bag wasn't "entirely" under the seat because if we crash landed, the person next to me might trip getting out. I'm sure that if we crashed, my bag wouldn't still be under the seat
