is there a way to just type in a number then hit save but attach it to an existing contact as a second number?

if i type in a number on the home screen then bring up my menu there is an option to "save to address book" but when i click on the link it automatically opens a new contact. i want to save it to an existing contact.

any help would be appreciated. thanks.

Go into the contact, hit the menu button, click edit. This will allow you to add a number to the contact.

thanks but i understand how to do that. on most phones you can just type in the number on the home screen and then chose different options of how or where you are saving that.

it is kind of a pain if someone is giving you their number and you need to go to your phone book then their name then edit to add a number.

This also drove me nuts! What you can do is Copy and then paste the number in the contacts fields when you hit edit on that contact.
See if that works for you, it does on my Pearl.
