We have three new Verizon 8830's that as soon as the user's plug them into their usb cables the screen goes dark and the light turns red. Desktop Manager 4.3 has been installed on the laptops. I plugged one of the devices into my laptop also running DTM 4.3 but didn't have the issue. I am thinking possibly a usb driver issue. Any other suggetions?

That seems likely. There's a driver update that you can download from the Verizon site where you got the DTM 4.3. There's also a new version of 4.3 (4.3.0.17) available.
