I was told that my 8830 I just got from Telus (it has a telus sticker on the bottom) Won't work with GSM networks in north america?

Any chance there's a way around that? I'd love to use this phone on a rogers network in Canada.

Nope. Won't work. The GSM radios in the 8830 are European frequencies only - no North American GSM radios in the unit. It will only work on CDMA networks in the USA and Canada.

The 8800, 8810, and 8820 will work with Rogers, but not the 8830.
