The same happened to me but then I just got another 8700 and was happy with it then got a free bold and would not go back m
But it was a great device and I enjoyed it very much. Perfect size for me.

I still have my 8700c as a backup. I put a pre-paid sim in it and use it on occasion if my curve runs out of juice. It's a good little berry!
Ilove my 8700 I just upgraded from an old 7290 it is an inexpensive way to catch the addiction!

Kind of like an Atari, it will always be cool to fiddle with once and a while I'm sure ;)
i'm using 8707 G
I still have a couple 8700's also. My wife loves it. She hates the trackball on my curve. Honestly I don't like it either but the curve has a camera and expandable memory....only reason I even use the curve. Lol I even have my trusty 7290 still ....that thing was tough as nails.

I had the 8700 for a couple of years, went to the Pearl, then curve. Gave my curve away, and was using the Pearl for ever. Pearl finally kicked the bucket so i had to go back to the workhorse.
After reading this posts, I don't feel so bad for having a 8700c after all!
(by the way, does the trackwheel on a curve funtion as a desktop mouse?point and click?)
used to love this phone....now i support over 400 of them at work...lol
just got my very own 8700 yesterday, bought from a friend :)
and i cherish every second i spend with the 8700 :D
Still love my 8703e. Also have an 8130. But I like the bigger screen and keyboard on the 8703e. So the 8130 is my backup device.
My 8700v was supplied by my company so I didn't have any choice, love it to bits even though it's not very pocket friendly. The company's slowly upgrading to Curve's so hopefully before long I'll have a new BB to play with.
I used to have one, it was a nice phone!
i still support a hand full of these at work along with curves and 8830s
Had a curve with a faulty trackball. Bought the 8700c for $30. Only draw-back is no expandable memory.
hey i had a nextel 7100i until july, and im planning on buying one to replace my dumbphone in a few months. blackberries that are slightly aged are an excellent way to start using crackberries. you can buy a verizon 8703 NEW on ebay for $60. 10x as much for a storm, which will be on ebay for $60 on 2 yrs as well. as for me, im just getting one of these to last me till the bold comes out on verizon.
Well, not for much longer because RIM OS updates are killing them off. I can show photos of my 8707 displaying Java runtime exceptions and also showing RIM software that does not fit on the screen because it was obviously written for a newer device.
It's a bit of a mess really.
Had an 8700 and 8300 for work- accidently dropped in a septic tank. Replaced it with a Pearl(sealed in a baggy). Now, an 8310 and a recent BOLD. I still miss my 8700 - sometimes. It's nostalgia and last about 30 seconds until I get an e-mail on my BOLD. BTW, yes, the 8300 is still in the septic tank.:D
wow i knew a guy that dropped a nextel into a septic tank, it was there for 10 months, and it still worked when he drained the tank. unfortunately, im on verizon and i need somethin to last me until the bold is out on verizon and the price goes down a 'franklin. im off to college in 18 mo. so i wanted to get a macbook and a bold before i go
Good choices. Yeah, my supervisor still laughs about it:D
lol. i just bought my 8703e and cant wait to get it
Got an 8700c when my Pearl got eaten by my dogs. To tell you the truth, there are two things I miss. 1) taking and sending pictures and 2) memory card expansion.
However, wife found a new case and keys for the Pearl. Put it back together ... and let her use it. There is just something about my old 8700c. Steady and rock-solid.
These were some nice looking units the 8700 series.
Dropped my 8703 twice onto concrete and worked fine after each drop (it
was scuffed up a bit, of course). I love my Storm but I doubt it could take the
abuse like my old 8703. (Anyone want to reminisce about their old 857?)
