Can't do it. The 8703 is being phased out.

When you upgrade the O.S. it will ask you do do a full back up, just make sure you perform the back up and you won't loose anything. If you don't like it, you can always return to the old O.S.
I did an upgrade from 4.1 to 4.2 on my Telus 8703e. You will NOT lose any information (assuming nothing goes wrong). By design, all information will stay in tact.
Like aingaran, I too upgraded my Telus 8703e's 4.1 OS to 4.2OS and am glad I did.
The upgrade process is a bit slow - took nearly 30minutes to complete. If you decide to upgrade, first thing is to do a back up of your bb. The upgrade is very user friendly, i.e. messages advising what is happening.
Once the upgrade begins, DO NOT touch or unplug your bb!! During the upgade, the screen will go blank - dont do anything -this is part of the upgrade.
Essentially what will happen is that the upgrade process will again back up your bb, wipe everything off your bb, install the new OS and put back what you have in the back up onto your bb.
Once upgrade is done, bb will reboot and you will see a new desktop. I found my 8703e a wee bit slower than before but it was worth it.
Good luck.
i had to go to 4.2 when my 8700c decided it would only boot up to an error code a few months ago... the only difference was that it's slower, and twice as addictive cause you can now run most current apps...!
i've actually had more fun in the past few months on 4.2 than in the previous 2 (!) years on 4.1, and it's helping me be patient and wait for the BOLD ... instead of buying a curve or 88xx
