Got my Verizon 8703e (ebay) today. Unfourtantly I could not activate it because the ESN is on the Lost/Stolen list . Kind of sad since I was really looking forward to playing with it.

The weird part is I was able to setup a Verizon BIS account with the ESN and PIN.

I've bought phones from this ebay seller before and never had a problem. The seller was 'Fast Lane Wireless' if anyone has ever heard of them.

They're going to exchange it right away as long as I provided them with tracking information.

Anyway, long story short. I was just wondering what kind of stuff people can't live without on their 8703e.

That way I can live vicariously through you guys until I get my replacement.

It was cheap, and I've heard they're very durable. I've also heard that it is a good first blackberry.

The 8703e is a workhorse. It has a track wheel on the side that you use your thumb to turn.

I've been using my 8703e for the past two years and agree that it is a workhorse.

Once my contract is up early next year, I will probably go with a curve and give my 8703e to my wife.

Got the replacement device today. Everything is good with BIS and Wireless Activation. I'm totally addicted already, I can see why they are called Crackberries.

I do have one question is there anyway to push email to my device that I received before BIS was setup? Right now the only email getting sent to my device is email I've received after setting it up.

Earlier when I setup my device all that email was downloaded, but then I upgraded the OS and just did a wipe since I didn't really have any data on it.

Does BIS think I already received that email on my device and it's not going to send it again?

Did you do a backup for the device before you did the upgrade? If so run desktop manager go to restore and select the backup. Upgrade should have put the messages back on the device for you when it was done. If you talking about older emails then the answer would be no. Forward them back to yourself if you need them that much.

its VERY durable. i've dropped, kicked, tossed it....yeah maybe once or twice on purpose, not cause i was mad at the phone...because of the caller on the line. its my business phone. i also have a storm...which is my personal phone that i probably would NEVER drop, kick or toss it on purpose because it seems more fragile. i was offered a curve this year in trade for my 8703 and i declined because of its durability.

I have a 8703e and i love it. Sure it doesnt have all the multi media functions like the curve, but i dont use all that stuff anyways. I really love the bright display on it. the only thing i miss is being able to load some pics on it. I tried through my photobucket.com acct but the pics on my blackberry appear very small. other than that I love this phone!

Sprint has released a 4.5 OS for their 8703e. It can be loaded onto a Verizon 8703e. You just need to delete the vendor.xml file. The download is listed on Sprint's site. I am going to load it onto my old 8703e next week. If it is not too slow I may start using it again until the 9630 is released.
