Hello. I recently bought an unlocked 8700 on eBay. Phone works great, however, the firmware is outdated and I would like to upgrade it. I'm a Linux user running Windows XP in a virtual machine (via VirtualBox). I've got the latest version of Desktop Manager as well as the latest AT&T firmware installed in the virtual machine, but I have yet to get any Blackberry software to recognize the phone.

When I plug the phone in, Linux recognizes it and VirtualBox captures the device for Windows, which is showing that it recognizes it as well. However, no matter how much I try neither the Desktop Manager nor the Apploader recognize the phone.

I've tried it with and without the sim card, deleted the vendor.xml file, taken out the battery and connected it right as it was started up, and still no go.

Any ideas? Is it not working because the phone was unlocked?

    I appreciate it!
