I have used many bb devices as 88xx, bold, storm, ... But last come back 8700.
Some time limited funtions in this 8700 also let me think of others one bb, but every time use the new one, I can not forget the advance of using track weel, the advance speker and how easy with the key board, so 8700 back again. It happend atlest 3 times with me
Now I use an 8700att with BIS from vinaphone. As usual it not so covenience but could not be others
Well I am happy to announce that after 3 months my garage sale 8700 works flawlessly. It's fun to tinker with and I enjoy the heft and feel of the phone. Best $2 purchase I have ever made
Im using my old 8700 until my Torch is back from warranty work. Its currently running OS 4.1.0.284 Is there a better version than this in Canada to use? Don't get me wrong I'm not expecting OS6
Theres a 4.5 OS out already.... you can give that a shot.... i have, its not bad considering the limited memory..... just go thru the posting.... and pick a good one that works for you.
Tried it for a day, but was so frustrated with the built in it policy, which had me type a password everytime it was unlocked. Have to try playbook bridge see whether it works.

Save the trouble. Bridge needs OS 5.0 and I assure you, 8700 series doesn't get that high. :-)

Saw a rim playbook doc listing 8707g as compatible, now i think it must've been about regular tethering which might work. It does have 3G and bluetooth.
Im getting this weekend a 8700g for my collection and will use it on my secondary cel phone line. Even not having OS 5, Im looking forward to get my hands back on a 8700g. Let's see what I can do with it! Will post later my adventures with the 8700g on present days! hahaha
welcome to 2014!
I bought one for use in Afghanistan for $13.50 on ebay in 2012(doing contract work)
dropped and broke the screen, picked up another one a month ago(ebay) for $4 and an ulock code for it for .98
The new one is workin' great just like the last!
It's old but the local Afghan's like it! (NO< they don't get to use it or hold it, but they like that technology)
I use them too! I had 2 8707v, one has OS 4.1... and the other 4.2... Were as my secondary phones after curve 9320 but they are so solid even nowadays like tanks that I prefer them However cannot find to install any serious application for them and I wanted so much even facebook (I think 1.5 alx is suitable but could not find after searching all the internet!). Besides, I noticed cannot even login to facebook via one phone browser with OS 4.2 but can login from the other OS 4.1... Strange?!?
Im still using it now, together with my Z3
8703e and 8700v, all working fine till now...
Still try to looking for the armor otterbox on ebay, but cant find it :/
Just out of curiosity, (for North Americans and the rest of the world)
who out there are still using the 8700 or 8707 Blackberrys?
Who out there have just bought/received one?
if your answer is "yes" which one did you get and why?
I just came across a boxed 8703e today in great shape. The place selling it had it priced at $20 but was having a 50% off sale so got it for $10. CDMA, so I can't throw my sim in it for fun but luckily I checked the battery first as it was swollen. Same battery as the Curve so I tossed it in and it has OS 4.1 on it. Neat to be hands on with the track wheel. Cool designed old device, made in Canada
Most of the 8703s are made in Canada..... where are u located.... cant be out west as bell and telus said they have been shutting down their CDMA system slowly..... Bell in particular may shut it down completely by end of 2015..... they start from west to east.

I'm central, MB. The device is Bell branded and themed but if you try to place a call, it puts you through to MTS Mobility service to speak to a rep to get started. Shows full bars of x1. I think I read that CDMA was going to be ended by them in 2016 too. Don't know much about it. No WiFi either D: but still a neat classic BB
