Ok I'm still quite a noob when it comes to BB(8700) and there's one thing that's been bothering me from day one, how can i find out when a text message was sent? It displays the time the message was received but there doesn't appear to be an option to find out when it was sent? I only ask because i often have to mess around with RF equipment in work and sometimes i have to turn my BB off just incase. When i turn it back on i often get a text message or two but never know what time they were sent?

I know it's probably something simple i'm missing in the options but could some one point it out?

    Thanks

Yes, same thing with emails, if your device is off. But, I know with email, inthe 'header' it gives the 'true' sent/received details. Are there no 'details' for text message? While in a message, if you click the trackwheel, what options do you get?

I presently don't have a text message to test with...

Ok i've received a txt from my mom(she's in spain) and i know that txt's from over there normally take at least an hour to get through to me, but all my bb says is the time i received it?? Pain in the ***...

The options i get when i click the wheel are:

    Help
    Find
    Copy
    Mark Unopened
    Save
    Reply
    Forward
    Forward As
    Delete
    Email Mom
    Call Mom
    SMS Mom
    MMS Mom
    Remove History
    View Folder
    Previous Item
    Next Item
    Next Unopened Item
    Veiw Contact
    Close

Nothing at all like "View Message Details" or anything that would suggest it might tell me when it was sent?

It's really annoying because msgs from my mom can take a couple of days to come through and sometimes a couple of hours. I'd just like to know which one it was with each message...

I looked and didn't see anything either. If it takes that long to get messages from your Mom, maybe you should upgrade her to a BlackBerry!

    Dude!

She's just turned 60... A phone with twelve buttons is confusing enough for her!

It's just the international thing with the delay, but it would be nice to know when they're sent? Is there a third party app maybe?

Burgaz - If she has email...surely you could try... i know just the palce where you could get her a BB too

But i didnt realise it took so long to send a text....I have sent in the last month about 6 texts in total, everything else has been email or BB Messenger...

It never bothered me before about not having this function but now it bugs me....

I know... It seems real stupid not to be able to tell?
And the only reason the messages are taking so long to get ot me is cos i'm getting them from spain! They're never delivered instantly!

Goto messeges. Click track wheel. Click on view folders. Click SMS OUTBOX. Select a SMS and click open. It will give you time sent.

Not quite what i wanted to know... I wanna know when i recieve a message from someone else, how do I find out what time the sent it?

Sorry. It depends on your carrier. When I hade t-mobile if the phone is off you can not see what time it was sent. It would only show the time that your turned your blackberry on and recieved it. If your blackberry is on you can see the time sent. Go to messeges then click options then general options then display time change to yes.

You can tell, open the message and next to the date it gives the time sent. The time on the message in the message application is the time received.

Unfortunately, both the date in the message, and the message application gives the time received.

But you can still find the "sent" date&time as follows; select the message, and use the "forward as" command. If you select "e-mail" or "PIN" here, a new message is created, in which you can find the real "sent" date and time.

There might be 1-2 hours of difference though, which I think comes from time zones, or the carrier.

It doesn't work. 'Forward as' comes up with time appliance received sms not time is was sent. Kinda frustrating.

Does anyone know how to get the time an sms was sent to the 'phone?
Is there an app that can be downloaded to get this info?
    Any help really grateful of.

    Thanks!

I don't think the original send time is embedded in the message, unless the sender includes it in the text. SMS is a format with absolute minimum overheads, the headers contain little more than sender and destination numbers.
