Ok, I have been all over the forum and can't find an answer. I would like to play mp3 files on my 8700g as a ringtone but have not been able to do so. Is there a way to do this?

An easy way is to use your desktop software that came with the BB. Just drag your mp3 over into ringtones and it will be accessible by the phone. You will probably have to make the mp3 smaller by using a program (there are free ones) to make the mp3 only 15-20 seconds long because there is a size limit.

Using your a desktop upload the mp3 to a free web site, like geocities, and download it using your 8700g. Try downloading this link via your 8700g and if it works then you know you can do it.:
    (remove spaces from link)

You can do this with Media Manager included with BlackBerry - BlackBerry - Sys Req V4-2 Pack 2

However, you'll need OS 4.2 on your 8700 in order to take advantage of it.

It seems that the 4.2 does not work on this model 8700g. I tried to contact the support here in Brazil but they told me it does not work because the 8700 does not have a trackball, so the device is not recognized by the media manager. Is there any other solution for this problem? I don't want to use my BB to download mp3 files, since I pay for the connection. I want to download to my pc but how to transfer the file to my BB?
