Sorry for that question.....i have just download a ringtone, save it to my pc and then send it to my BB 8703 by e-mail and it wont work. It does not recognise the format.....??

It is probably due to my newbie skills on a BB but your help would be nice.

sooooo, what format is it in? where did you download it from?

Some sites (like Phonezoo.com) actually have you input what make, model, carrier you are on, so that you don't have an issue with compatability.... i've actually created tones for friends, and had their phone (with my number still) as the default, then forwarded it to them.....

soo...maybe try that?
