    Hi Guys...

I'm a bit of a beginner on the Blackberry so be gentle.....

I have several 8700v from work... It's ok I still work there and they are aware...

They are naturally all enterprise ready (I believe that's the right statement). Any hoo. I was wondering if they can be converted to run like a shop bought handset for person (i.e. hotmail) use?

I thought that if I could "strip" them they may be more valuable than the 14 for recycling.

    Thanks for any help
    Neville

    Thanks rlp32 for getting back....

I've managed to remove the IT policy but I think that I have the wrong desktop manager to install the internet services.

I've got BB desktop manager 4.7 but I can't see anywhere that states if it is enterprise or internet. And I a little unsure of the version that I should be downloading from the link on the thread that you put me to.

So; so far I have removed the policy and upgraded to 4.5, but lack the options on the install to use anything but the enterprise server.

    Thanks again.

Get rid of Desktop manager 4.7. Uninstall it and get 4.6 with media manager.

Yes it is. I normally dont suggest the one with media manager but since your device doesnt have a meda card its the only practical way to get images and ringtones on them. Well, you could email but it depends on the size limitations and so forth.

    I've done something wrong...

    Removed Policy.
Installed 4.6 (selected personal when installing
    Upgraded to 4.5 (device)
Still only the enterprise e-mail set-up option.

    Will try again tomorrow....

    Thanks for the pointers.

You should have a manage internet mail icon. Looks like a folder with a gear in front of it. If not you might want to call your service provider that your going to use and make sure you have a blackberry data plan setup for your device/s. Then they will send service books /provisioning books to your device allowing you to have an internet browser and email icon. You want a BIS plan. Hope this helps some.
