i tried to access the link to see what the latest version of desk top manager was needed and it said the site no longer existed or has been moved. do i just index desk top manager and what is the one that my 8700 is compatible with...

Currently updating. The hourglass icon is gone..and its still updating. I have a 8700g btw.
My update has been stuck for about 20~30 mins now...

4.5 with media mgr works fine on my 8700r, and so does this update. but why use 4.5 when 4.6 desktop is available and works faster/less buggy

Guys I have a big problem. I was updating and my computer froze on me. I restarted the pc and connected my bb and now the screen is not turning on. BB won't even turn on...the red led will just flash twice every 3 seconds...anyone want to help out? NVM...got it working. Fixed the nuked blackberry.

I googled it and found out that crackberry had a post about repairing a nuked blackberry. Followed the steps and installed the update as I was fixing the nuked part.

fyi - just put this release on my friends t-mo 8700g - works great. it does breathe some new life into the 8700.

just be aware, the first access to the new-style media folder is really slow until it gets cached.....or whatever its doing the first time 4.5 looks at it.

....and there is no video support on the 8700 with 4.5 in case anyone was wondering. your media folder only has ringtones, pics and voice memos.

for example, going to youtube on the 4.5 browser on the 8700 wont invoke the media player to play the video like 4.5 will on a curve.
