I hadn't connected my BB to my PC for awhile, but when I did it yesterday, an update dialog popped up. I was able to upgrade to the new software with no trouble.

Please forgive a stupid question from a new BB owner - but why would a Sys upgrade made specifically for Singapore Tel, be a good thing to install on one's device, if one isn't, in Singapore. Sorry for being dim, but being new to the whole BB 'thing' maybe there's a logic - but I just don't get it.

That doesn't make sense to me, either.

The update I got was automatic from BlackBerry when I connected to my BB Desktop Manager.

it wouldnt work on my 8700. I installed it to my computer, opened up desktop manager, plugged in the phone, opened up the application loader, it didnt come up, but when i downloaded the OS from AT&T and installed it, the application loader worked just fine. Does anyone have the newest software that will work for 8700c

I'm running OS 4.2.1.114 on my 8700C. I'm downloading this so-called 'latest OS for 8700'. Hey..I think this is for 8707V NOT for 8700 series. But what the heck..will give it a try anyway. As far as I know..the latest OS for 8700 series is from Hutchinson and it is 4.2.1.114. Correct me if I'm wrong

-update: Confirmed. Not meant for 8700c but for 8707V or 8707G

Hi, I am having a problem upgrading. I have a 8700g from Rogers, and when I open Desktop Manager it asks me to update it, and then when I get to the screen to do it, after I click Update it says

The Application "Blackberry PGP Email Library" cannot be loaded, becasue it requires the following applications that are not availible.

    net.rim.platform.ecmascript

    any thing I'm doing wrong?

basically the devices run similar software except for the carrier dependent features. that is why you're supposed to Delete the vendor.xml file located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader before performing the update

The OS update seems to be an .exe file for downloading to a PC desktop only.

Is there an OS update that is compatible with mac desktops?

    Thanks!

No there isn't, because you need desktop manager to upgrade your os and the desktop manager is only available for windows
