    Software For BlackBerry® 8700 smartphone

    BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.5.0.255 (EastAsia)

    Package Version:
    Consisting of:
    Software Platform:
    File name: 8700EastAsia_PBr4.5.0_rel255_PL2.7.0.103_A4.5.0.16 2_Vodafone_Essar_Limited__for_Hutch_Essar_devices_ .exe
    File size: 75.92MB
Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

    DL Link: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...DF29596708C94B

    1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded. (Vista users be sure to right click on the .exe file and select "Run As Adminstrator.")
    2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
    3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

Any tried load this ? Any issues yet ?

What about the memory wise ? I thought 4.5 OS really needs a larger RAM to support it ?

I installed the 4.5 distro from sprint on my vzw bb just fine, in fact, so far it has been well worth the upgrade.

English is supported. The EA builds also support Chinese and other regional languages.

I've installed it, no probs so far and looks pretty responsive. Mine is the 8700v but I think it will be fine as long as its an 8700 series.
Make sure you delete the vendor as usual and it doesnt matter if it sais east asia, dont worry you still get the english language.

I have an 8700g with current OS I downloaded the and installed it in my computer, deleted the vendor file. When I hook it up to the desktop manager, I see the 162 in there as an available update. When i select it to install it the next screen tells me "there are no software updates for my device". Whats up with that?
