I am looking to replace my dead 8100....and there are 8700C's for very cheap on EBay. I am OK living w/out a camera and I use my Ipod for all of my music needs. I just need to be able to open and listen to .wav files due to my work voicemail being forwarded, allowing me to listen via my BB.
I have heard that the 8700C doesn't have a media player, but is this true (or are you able to download one now).
Any other thoughts on the 8700 vs the 8100, any reasons why I would hate or love the 8700 after only using my Pearl?
Thanks for any feedback....
I have had both, and I strongly prefer the 8700 over the Pearl. You will also have to live without the Track Ball (which most people have a problem with getting rid of).
The best part of the 8700 is that it's a LOT more durable than the Pearl. One drop of my Pearl and it was toast. Two, three drops (I'm clumsy) of my 8700 and it's still working fine. I also like the full-sized keyboard on the 8700.
The media player on my 8700 has the same appearance as the one I had on my last Pearl. I'm not sure if it's the same series or not. It appeared when I updated the OS.
there is a media player, but there seems to be some pretty stiff size restrictions on what it can handle.. or maybe it's format restrictions - i haven't really been able to tell... overall not a particularly media-friendly device, but really good at all the other stuff
ok, just emailed myself a 488k 16bit stereo WAV (3sec) and that downloaded & played fine right out of the mail program... let's try something a bit longer
