I had an 8700, it got run over by a forklift. I got an 8800, and then upgraded to the Bold. However, today I decided that I wanted what I lost, so I went and bought another 8700. I just couldn't stay away. I love how this bb has the perfect balance between style and function. GPS, that's why I bought a Garmin. WiFi, that's why I have a huge data plan. Camera, they suck on phones anyways. And music player, that's why I have an mp3 player. I just couldn't stay away from the trackwheel, the almost perfect keyboard, the perfect feel in hand. This was the last bb that blackberry did right IMO, so I'm sticking with this one as long as I can. To the 8700 community, I'M BAAACK!

Haha welcome back. I don't use one personally but my wife does. The only reason I don't use one is because I need the expandable memory

im in a similar situation as you

i had an 8700 on tmobile for 2.5-3 years, then switched to verizon and ended up with the curve. i hated it, and i just sold it last night. picked up a brand new 8700 for verizon's network for 35 bux on ebay shipped!

i too hate the trackball, the curve was too small, didnt like the keyboard etc.

i also have an mp3 player, etc, so why do i need all that on the phone?

id get the bold/8900 curve (when and if they are released for verizon) but i dont think i will, as i dont like the trackball. BB really needs to ditch that design, re-add the trackwheel, and stop trying to make every new BB they release smaller and slimmer than the previous one. the 8700 is the perfect size

I had a 8703e as my upgrade from my 7250 and man sometimes I miss it. The phone was like a tank, it ran flawless, keyboard was awesome. Man, now I may head to ebay and see what I can find...

i never used the 72xx series, but i still think the 8700 series is built the best comparing to my curve i just sold, etc.. i just think the new ones with the trackballs are built worse and feel cheap, especially the 8330 i just sold.

I love my 8703e. I have used the 7250 and also the 8130. I had moved to the 8130 after my 8703e but now I am back to the 8703e. Just feels the best and has the best keyboard in my opinion.

I love the 8700, you're absolutely right. I mean, even on my 8830, I don't miss having a camera. The keyboard on the 8700 is without a doubt the best I've ever used. It's a wonderful phone. I still need to resolder the back button on this 8700c I have sitting around.

Yes I love the keyboard size and the weight of the phone. I think the keyboard on the 7290 was perfect though with the separated keys and all. And why do you need a trackball? The thumbwheel is what defined the bb imho! Lol

I do wish I had an 8707 though. I could have the best of both worlds. 3G and an 8700, 3G is the only reason i'm keeping the bold.

Can't argue with what's been said. The 87xx to me was the last business class Blackberry made. It was true to it's roots, stable and durable. You could drop it and it keep on ticking, drop a 8xxx series device and you are either making a call to insurance or heading to you carrier to buy a new one full retail. The new berries are very cheap feeling now. I have a 8330 and I miss my old 8703e, too bad it was stolen a few months ago from my home otherwise I'd turn it back on like did every once in awhile.

I kind of want to get an 8700C for fun and maybe to just keep around when I go out on those weekend trips where I don't wanna get my Bold messed up.
