I ordered a Holux GPSlim 240 GPS reciever, and I was wondering what, if any software I needed to get to use that. Could I just use my google maps? thanks for the help!

Never used this, but, am sure it would work.

I hope you didn't pay too much for this. You probably could have bought a 8800, with built in GPS!

I only paid 80 bucks for it, it isn't here yet, but should be tomorrow. I just didn't know if i need a program to make it work with google maps..

alas, i wish i could afford an 8800, but i don't make that much mooney. i really want to buy another 8700, but its tough to find them for around 100 bucks.

so what's the verdict? did the GPS thing work out for you? I was thinking of doing something similar and putting it on my 8700, because I don't really like the 8800 anyway. If it's just software, I'm sure there's a way to steal it from the internet anyway.

The Holux GPSlim 240 is a definite must have for anyone with an 8700g that doesn't want to upgrade. It finds satelittes almost instantly, and the battery life is very good. I just don't like BBMaps, and I guess Telenav doesn't work on the 8700g. So if you like BBMaps, then you should definitly go to Amazon.com and order one of these. 80 bucks is alot better then a couple hundred you would shell out for an 8800, if youlike your 8700. trackwheel for life!

He may have meant TeleNav would work for 60 days! When the 8800 came out, they were offering 60 days free. But, GPS on a whole will always work!!!
