Not that I know of. If you need those messages and have another blackberry, you could use the device switch wizard.
If the desktop manager still reocognizes the phone do a back up. There is software that can read the .ipd files, abc-something, there's a demo out there somewhere

are you able to view the menus via shortcuts any way?
worst case senerio... use the DM to backup your messages to an .ipd file. download any version of JDE and install that on your computer. open up the JDE simulator(basically a blackberry phone that runs on your PC).. click simulate > USB. your computer will now see that as an actual phone. open up the DM and use your backup file and write it to the blackberry app you just installed. read texts on there.
