I know how you can get one easy. Buy a new phone there ya go it will be alot cheaper then rebuilding the circut board and the phone shell.

If you take the SIM card out, you can install it in a phone that supports media cards...

Well no. Its not just a matter of soldering the microSD card reader. There's the matter of the motherboard, and ROM supporting that. For one there are no cooked ROMs (hybrids don't count) of BlackBerry OS - even then that's highly unlikely. That's hard coded into the OS programming. There's too much to do for that to be remotely possible.

The Pearl was the first BB with expandable memmory. That sucks considering I had it on my MPX220 (2003 Windows Mobile). But you have to consider that these weren't the same Smartphones as they are now. They were PDAs in the sense of email support, and a calendar. But not in the sense of a laptop replacement like WM and Palm OS was and is. Today is a different matter.

2 things that would've made the 8700 series unstoppable: 3.5mm headphone jack and a slot for expandable memory.

?Huh? hmm, okay, anyway then. I am about to buy an 8700g from my friend, just to have another spare BB. (lol, I've got two spares now ) He's only going to charge $10 and trade for my tiger woods 2008 game (hate the game anyway, lol)

Seing as how the 8700g does not have a memory card slot, does it make the device even more sluggish? With just the pre installed apps? I think the trackwheel is going to take some getting used to.

I love the trackwheel more than my trackball, so after the larnin curve you'll lobe it too. If u fear memory leakage, just do a battery pull every mornin. There are apps tht even do the battery pull function without takin out the battery itself, but sadly the 8700 series doesn't support the app world. Good luck though

Well it is a beast of a machine, but functional. Got it yesterday. As far as I can tell, the battery life is great, and the device is not sluggish at all, even with OS 4.1.0.346 on it. Currently in the process of d/l ing 4.5 from the T-Mob site. Will see how that goes before installing newest version. Kind of big, bulky, and heavy, but that makes it seem well built, unlike my pearl flip. Also, kinda groovin' the trackwheel! Thanks.
