    Hello!

I am in need of a BB that can withstand drops to the ground, lots of dust, and overall, just alot more exposure than most people. I work outside all day every day in the green industry and I need a BB that can take a beating. I'm assuming that the 8700 series is the best option for this, because it just seems a little more rugged than the other ones, I just wanted you guys to confirm this.

Another option is to purchase an 8900 Curve and put a Otterbox Defender on it.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks!

Yea the 8700 series are tough devices. I am a granite fabricator and we make alot of dust and water. They take a lickin and keep on tickin. Otterbox in my opinion are the best things you can get if your gonna be tough with your device. I say get the 8900 if you can and get and 8700g for a backup or to use during the day if you find that the 8900 is taking too much punishment. Welcome to CB by the way!

Hi! thanks for the welcome and reply!

If I were to take the 8900 route I'd have to switch carriers and Its just so glossy and nice I would be worried about it getting dirty, even with the otterbox. I also think that the scroll wheel in the 8700 would take more of a beating than the track ball, but then again the 8700 has no camera.

    Decisions Decisions lol

Go 8700 with an otterbox I'm fairly sure the phone will last forever.

I would say go with the 8700 unless you really want to get the 8900. I've used almost every BlackBerry (8700g, 8800, 8820, 8320, 8900, 8120, 8220) and 8700 is the one that still works after numerous drops. I've had it for more than two years.

i agree... the 8700 in an oterrbox would be just about as close to indestructable as it gets...
