Added personal e-mail address and was able to receive my personal emails on my blackberry device as an aside to my office/work e-mails. Then I had to change my personal email address and for the life of me cannot edit/update to my new email address. Insists to maintain old address and states my PIN is already assigned. Can anybody help me understand how to reassign my device and add my new personal email address?

You would have to delete the old email address then create a new one thru your BIS.
