Assuming that cost and time are NOT issues, is it hypothetically possible to jerry-rig together some sort of external attachable mod that would allow a 2g phone, such as a legacy BlackBerry phone, to function on 3g network?

The Guide is definitive. Reality is frequently inaccurate.

If COST isn't any issue.... you'd be buying a 3G Legacy phone, as that would be a far cheaper solution.
