Hi. I am currently selling a Sprint-branded Bold 9650 on the auction site.
The phone is running, and the buyer says it is not useful because they need an older OS version (they did not specify exactly what version they are looking for).
Is there some older version of the OS that does something magical that the newer version cannot?

Not that I'm aware of unless they have some specific app they're looking to run that only works on a certain version. Honestly better offer just asking them, could be just about anything... or they might not even know what they're talking about. lol.

The 9650 did launch with OS 5, but was soon updated to 6. There are earlier builds of 6, but there's nothing magical about them. There are no changes other than bug fixes, so an earlier build would have more problems.

OS 6 was a bit of a UI change from 5, so maybe they just preferred 5?

I don't recall app incompatibilities between 5 and 6, but there may have been. I never used 5, only 4.5 and then 6 - each on a different device.

Thanks all for the suggestions. I guess it will remain a mystery.

No mystery. If it works on the last supported operating system dont revert to OS5. I did that on my 9650 and stock apps were not working. So leave as is.
