For those of you who don't know, YouTube sucks as a free app on Android. In order to keep playing a video when the screen is off or when you switch to other apps, you have to shell out a monthly fee for YouTube Red. More than this, no third-party YouTube apps that give you this functionality for free are permitted.

Until last week, the BB10 browser YouTube experience was amazing. Not only could you skip through adverts, but you could easily multitask in another tab or app, or turn the screen off if you only want audio, without issue. It was one of the silver linings to using a dying platform; so few people use BB10 that YouTube probably didn't even know you could do this, let alone them devoting manpower to patching it.

Well, that is no more. They've decided to do something on their end that means that, not only is it not possible to take advantage of these 'features' for free, but the patched YouTube app, even when you sign in to a YouTube Red account, won't keep playing once minimised on BB10. The devs must have known that full well.

In other words, instead of saying hey, there's no YouTube Red support for BB10 users anyway, so let's let them keep the features they already have, they decided to eliminate them altogether.

I know SuperTube is a good option, and I've paid for the pro version, but it's still disappointing to see one of the last few advantages--true multitasking-- that BB10 had over the 'Big 2', crumble even more.

Once WhatsApp goes the way of the dinosaur in BB10 (provided the Telegram fundraiser doesn't pan out), this might be another reason to make me jump ship as well.

No way, really? Damn, I wonder what's up with mine then.

I'm still rocking, but that's because my Z30 is an unreleased AT&T-branded pre-production unit (STA100-1), so I can't change that.

I'll try turning it off and on again, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

I just tested this on my 10.3.3 Passport and you're right, it works just as it used to. Damn, that's a shame for my Z30 then.

EDIT: Still seems to work on my Z30 in Browsie. Guess I'll be using that from now on.

Try to clean cookies, delete history and stuff like that. I had the same issue on my PassportSQW100-4/ and now it works.

Yeah mine stopped working on 10.3.2 also and finally decided to upgrade to 10.3.3 which did fix the issue and returned my multitasking beast to me again.
