Yes, immediately. But would expect a reasonable amount of good working business Apps. No need for games and that sort of useless crap. Like a flashlight switch or battery optimizer. And a good BBM experience.

This is about the most revelatory, red-pilling statement about tech I've ever read. Couldn't have said it better.

To go even further, Apple is almost single-handedly responsible for:

-The almost extinction of the PKB

-The extinction of opening, sliding, spinning, or anything non-slab as far as form factors

-The extinction of the removable battery

-The extinction of strong plastic builds, in favor of fragile glass

-More recently, the extinction of the 3.5mm jack

    -The trend of $800+ devices

-The trend of yearly small incremental upgrades instead of outside the box innovation

No, customer preferences are responsible for many of these changes. Apple does not now or have they ever had a monopoly on smartphones. For years after the iPhone came out you could buy PKB phones. Android had quite a few options for years. They stopped because the vast majority of people wanted bigger screens. Plus many like myself prefer virtual keyboards.

Changes in other items follow sales trends. I liked removable batteries two years ago, but today I don't see the need. Headphone jack is up in the air Apple, Google and Moto has removed it but plenty of others like Samsung and LG keep it in their phones.

Apple is simply providing what most people want.

    They don't want a PKB
    They want slabs
Most People Don't care about removable batteries
People like the feel of glass
In the end I think most don't really care about the headphone, though I think Apple made a mistake here, seems like a big inconvience, but Apple has done it successfully befor with USB and Floppies.
Enough are willing to pay more for what they want.
I think People would complain more, and investors would scream if there wasn't a new iPhone every year.
