    Sadly, I will not be.

I bought my 9860 about 3 months ago, because I couldn't deal with my 9700 anymore. Signing a contract for my 9860 means I won't be able to upgrade for about 2 years.

I'd love a BB10 phone right at release, unfortunately I'm not willing to pay for a phone straight up. Is anyone else in this situation?

I currently have my upgrade ready.
My brother will use my upgrade for a BB 10 phone and I will get mine via the contact that I was a part of.

I'm using my other lines upgrade for a 9930. I'll have this line available about when BB10's drop.

Thinking of upgrading right away to flip it.

Smart move for RIM would to get the carriers to wave the 2 yrs for an existing BB customer...then I would get one, but alas I got a 9930 at release.

So all manufacturers should be smart and get the carriers to wave 2 years for current customers on release of a new product?
Sounds like a great plan to me.

I have a son that I will be getting a phone for probably towards the end of summer, but I could stretch it a little. Going to hold off till BB10 drops, use the new line to get a BB10 device, and give him my 9900.

If you're worried about the upgrade make sure you have a playbook. It's getting the BB10 upgrade as well

Just seems like a tough situation for people that have signed contracts with a BB7 phone. Will anyone who purchased a BB7 phone on contract be eligible for an upgrade when BB10 releases? I'm not sure how other various carriers do it, Rogers customers certainly will not be.

First have to assess a number of important factors:

    1. Will my firm support it. We currently support BB, iOS (3G+), and Android. Note no WP. We'll have to assess BB10 admin/security tools to make sure they meet our minimal standards (iOS before 3G did not, current WP does not).
    2. Will it still provide the features/functions of current BBOS that separates it from Android/iOS - the features/functions that have stopped me from switching up to this point.
    3. Absent #2, will it introduce must have features/functions that Android/iOS don't have that will make it impossible to ignore.

If the answer to #1 is "No", then no, I will not be getting it.
If the answer to #1 is "yes", and ##s 2 and 3 "No", then no, I will not be getting it.
If the answer to #1 is "yes, #2 "No", and #3 "Yes", then I will seriously have to consider it.
Finally, if the answer to #1 is "Yes", #2 is "Yes", the whether #3 is "Yes" or "No", I'll probably get it.

    confusing enough?

    heck no!

After looking at RIM's history I have decided to wait until they flush out all of the kinks and glitches in bb10. I will pick one up after the 2nd or 3rd model is released. But for now I will stick with my 9790.

I will not be getting a BB10 device immediately after release. I will soon have a new contract, so I'll need to wait until I'm eligible for an upgrade.

I'm probably going to do the same thing as well. But I'm considering not buying it subsidized through a carrier because I have to sign up for data. And not the cheap 200MB data. The 30 dollar one. Which I'm pretty sure I'm not going to do.

Since it'll cost me more, so I might as well just buy it outright.

But I'm going to wait a few months for the kinks to be worked out.

You, and me, too. I've long stood back and let the results play out. I put 2 weeks of research into phones before I made a change.

Im on the same boat with you. I recently upgraded my phone from curve 8330 ( i knw its old ) i have bold 9930. It would take me 1 yr and 3 months to update again. but just after 2.0 version was available for PB, few weeks later I bought one for 64gb. PB and my bold really a good pair. Now with that said, accoding to Kevin and Crackberry. RIM will also release BB10 for PB, eventhough the 2.0 is still fresh. So if u cant wait for your next upgrade and you want to get the benefits of BB10. May I suggest you get a PB. Playbook is really a great device and a win/win situation on price. you cnt go wrong for that. plus seamleslly intergrate with your 9860. Check out the PB, you wont regret it...

My style has been hanging on even though I've physically abused the poor phone time and time again. Hoping it lasts till the first bb10 phone with a keyboard comes out.

When did the OS7 come out? I have only had mine for a couple months now. I got out of my contract a little early because I didn't want to wait any longer, and I heard that they wouldn't have a BB10 phone with a physical keyboard right away. So I wanted to upgrade, and get some time in before that one is released. Then if I like the new phone with a physical keyboard I might do the early upgrade.
