Android L should be available roughly at the same time when 10.3.1 goes public. Will Android L take the limelight, just like iPhones stole the stage from Passport.

Android is putting on a three ring circus under the Big Top.

BlackBerry has a Flea Circus in the back of an old VW Van. For those that are into it, they'll sell a few tickets, but most everyone will be at the big show.

Blackberry is not competing with the consumer market. So does it really matter?

Well, I migrated to BlackBerry 10 from the consumer market, so the potential is there. Maybe if BlackBerry could launch its amazing creations when the market is really quite, it could the company.

Only teche types care about OS versions... probably last thing a customer considers when buying a phone.... all they care is how it works... seeing how many Android are sold versus BB it would be logical that Android L would overhadow anything BB has to offer..... in this case size matter....

Hmmm I don't think there is much limelight to steal! I don't want to offend you but you're talking as if BlackBerry has like 30% market share.... they are way way less than that!

There are dedicated BlackBerry users and they would remain with bb. All those who have experienced once bb device, they will not be comfortable with any other device, I m very confident. I have been with BlackBerry since last 10 yrs and would continue.

Pretty sure they have mutually exclusive audiences. I mean, Android L will be a big deal in a wider scale, but if you know what BB10.3.1 is, then 10.3.1 will be a big deal to you.

Same goes for the iPhone. I would actually argue that timing the Passport right after the iPhone 6 resulted in some positive coverage for BlackBerry, at a time when the general readership was more likely to be reading tech websites. That's without even mentioning the fluke-ish coincidence of "bendgate", which played extremely well to the positive attributes of the Passport's design. I mean, no one is complaining about the Passport being a bit heavy and rugged. But if the featherweight iPhone wouldn't have had the bending issue,... everyone would have derided BlackBerry for making such a heavy device with hardened steel I-beams. Instead, they came out looking like the ones making smart design choices.

Anyway,... the takeaway is that as long as BlackBerry executes on their end. Any tech industry coverage is usually good.

It depends on who you are. BB10 lovers won't care about L release and Android lovers won't care about BB10.3.1.

I am pretty excited about both: BB10 as an independent BB10 dev and excited user and Android L as a full-time Android dev. I was also interested in iOS 8 as a dev as well as any Windows Phone, Tizen, Firefox OS, webOS, … update as I'm an open-minded dev and just love technology

I think Android L is a step in the right direction. Definitely a cleaner, more consistent look.

I also think that 10.3 does the "flat" thing just a little bit better. It has an even more consistent look and feel. The thing is, "look and feel" is still better overall in BB10, and that's not even its most important advantage over Android. THAT would be overall security.
