Seen a few other users with the same issue on the z10 (stl-4), but unfortunately without resolution. Seems I can keep a strong wifi signal for about 10mns before I get the notification that I have limited connection.

Have tried a few different solutions
    • Delete saved network and reconnect
    • Hard and soft reset the device
    • Tried multiple routers at home location
    • Tried it on work wifi, same result
    • Tried on just wifi with mobile data shut off
    • Tried this on both 10.2.0.1791 and 10.2.1.641

Any thoughts or has anyone found a solution?

I've found if i'm connected to wifi and reset my phone (hard reset, soft reset, whatever), then the network I was connected to is now disabled. AND, if I just go to the wifi settings in the pull down menu on the main screen, it will not show my disabled connections and when I attempt to connect it gives an error. If I go into the settings app, then go into the wifi, then i'm able to see the disabled connections, and can just click my network and it will connect again.

Other work around - disable wifi before reset on the phone.

Thanks for the tip, but unfortunately I have tried this without having positive results. Works for a few minutes then switches to limited. Not sure what has changed or if its been there and I haven't noticed since I upgraded from 10.2.0.1767

I've just got back from Europe and had the same problem on a couple of occasions using my z10, where I got a wifi connection but was unable to access Internet, Facebook and twitter. And got the message below. Really annoying as my colleagues with their iphone's had no problems.
    Any ideas

I just started having this issue. At home on wifi bit never had it before. Does it mean that my connection is slow? It randomly appears and then disappears, the notification that is. Anymore info on this?

I think it's a router firmware issue and not a BB10 issue. I have this problem with older routers especially

There are at least a couple of things going on here. Hotels often use a Guest Gate device and they're not always set up to accommodate a BlackBerry even though it can be done.

As for issues on a home router you can change your router channel to 1 or 11. Most people use 6 as it is usually the default. If you have a dual band router try using only one band or the other to see if this makes a difference. Also, make sure you're running the latest firmware on your router.

Sometimes just a simple router reset will work. Unplug and plug again. When it reboots it usually solves the problem.

I too had this problem, but changing my router (Netgear WNR3500) to the following settings fixed my problem.

I now have full connection with no drop-outs.

I see you changed your channel to 3. It's my understanding that channels 2 thru 10 are all derivatives of channel 6 and that one usually stands a better chance of signal improvement by going to 1 or 11. The important thing is to find a fix and you did. Thanks for sharing.

    You are welcome.

I used insidder and scanned mmy area and used the least used channel. It's worked a charm since I did that.

I can buy the firmware issue, but in my case the router at home is 8+ years old, the routers at work have been installed within the last year. I get this message at work all the time on the new routers, never at home on the old one. We have two wireless networks at work, one is secured with a password, one is open. Doesn't matter which one I'm on, I still get the limited capabilities message.

I am running the 10.2.1.1055 leak on a Z10, I did not have this issue when I was running 10.1 version that Verizon put on my phone.

I have not traveled and used other networks lately and I don't use my phone at work all that much, so, for the other enhancements I get with 1055, I'll live with it, for now. But it is frustrating.

I'm having same issues on my z10,q10,and z30 using a Netgear router. Other non BlackBerry devices do not have this issue. I was hoping there would be an easy fix. How do you get into the settings of your router and change the channel?
    Thanks

Never had a problem on an 802.11ac router.
802.11 super g is probably the worst. Don't know why apart from it being not a proper standard however there's quite a lot of super g routers.
Not just BlackBerry effected, some android phones have similar issues. Some have less of a problem. Some have far worse problems.

If you don't have your router documentation, do a (google) search for the make and model, looking for owners manual and instructions for changing channel. You'll should find a web browser link to get you into the router set up menu. However, if you printed your documentation when you set up the router all your info should be there, including any passwords.

I believe this problem was fixed in 10.2.1.2947. I've reverted my router to the original settings (that which caused problems before), and I've still managed to maintain excellent WIFI connection.

I have this issue too on my Q10 running 10.2.1.

This happens at home and at work. My work iPhone, iPad, and laptop connect just fine. The error comes up randomly out of the blue and then it will reconnect again after 10-30 minutes. Annoying, since I have no mobile network access in my office and my phone is useless without the WiFi connection.

The gateway modem I have at home is a TG862 from Xfinity. I have set the SSID to hidden and reserved an IP for the Q10 with no change in behavior. I work in a Medical Center as an IT specialist, and the buildings are populated with Cisco 900 series (I think?) routers that broadcast a hidden SSID for technicians. I am wondering if hidden SSIDs are causing the problem or what...
