Incidentally, a week ago I upgraded to the Z30 and have had 0 problems with dropping wifi.
However, my Z10 and Q5 continue to get the wifi error and will only work steady if I turn data services when I'm on wifi.

Interesting to read through this thread again. And the final entry here; no Wi-Fi problems with a Z30.. I have been using a lovely Z30 for about 4 or 5 months now and have had the "Wi-Fi Connection Limited" problem that whole time. A couple of things here:
    1. Have tried most if not all of the suggestions here & elsewhere. To no avail.
    2. Regarding router settings, depending on where one is (a hotel for instance) one does not always have the privilege of fiddling with the router. Any road if an implement doesn't work as intended one does not seek first to alter its environment. One looks first to the implement. Which brings me to:
    3. Truthfully, a phone should just work. I have & have used other phones & Wi-Fi connectivity is not an issue. Yes other phones too can have this issue, of course. But the reason this thread even exists is because it is a persistent & unresolved problem for BlackBerry 10 users. The Z30 is a beautiful & brilliant piece of kit & I just want to enjoy it.
    4. Have found in a couple of searches that people on the new Passport10.3 are reporting the problem. Will take a wait & see on that front.

Now to the latest. I'm happy to report, but not without some trepidations, that the problem seems to have gone on vacation for the last 3 days. This is strange as normally it would crop up half a dozen or more times a day. What did I do if anything? I erased all my connections & re-entered them, and going into Advanced Settings, changed only the following:

    Auto-Obtain IP: Leave this On
    Using Auto-IP: Uncheck this

That's it. Having been through so much & found no permanent fix, I am of course very sceptical. I'm more inclined to think that this is merely coincidence; that the setting means nothing & for some reason(s) the glitch is in hiatus. However I must also note that the abovementioned setting fiddle is not one I have seen specifically mentioned anywhere.

Good luck mes amis. Let's hope the problem will soon be resolved

    Update
Nope once again it has returned.

Note: For those claiming this is a batch of different user related problems & nothing to do with either BB10 software or BlackBerry or the hardware that utilises it: I have several other phones in all of the other major OS formats & not one of them has ever dropped Wi-Fi connectivity in any location I frequent, except for the sort of reason anyone might expect. But! This Z30 is my favourite, so I'd like to see this problem fixed.
In the meantime I'm going back to my Moto X for a while. Need a break : /

Nope. Will try that & let you know. Updating didn't help. Have updated the OS to 10.2.1.2941 or whatever. Didn't it come out in May? On Rogers Wi-Fi just arrived today.

It could be the OS you are on. I understand not everyone wants to install leaks.

Latest update was just a few days ago.

PS I also have a Moto X on OS 4.4.4 Kit Kat & an iPhone 4S running 6.1.3, neither of which ever has a problem.

By the way, there is a lot of tools and precious logs to identify the issue in Settings > Network and Connections > Wi-Fi. Tap the Advanced option icon (the 2 small sliders at the bottom). You can first share your logs (there is a button to copy it ; don't forget to delete you PIN before posting it), and do so after being wrongly disconnected of course.

  17. Ursus Rufus's Avatar
Thanks Joshua. I've removed PIN & left everything else the same. As you read down you can see where the disconnect is. Not sure how much of a help looking at the log will be but it's worth a shot.

Seems like everyone that has gone to 10.3.x has gotten free of this. But I really don't want to install a leak as that can bring on other problems & also, just really not into spending the time, as from what I understand it is not really that straightforward. If there was such a thing as an all in one leak, download install & go, I'd be on it...

Edit: It happened again when I tried to send this reply. About once an hour or more, today. And yet sometimes it will go days without any problems. As I've stated before (cf. supra) neither of my other devices have ever had any trouble.

Thank you. Signal strength is good. The disconnected event are requested by your phone: "CTRL-EVENT-DISCONNECTED reason=3". Can be an authentication issue... Can you change temporarily the security setting on your access point ? If so, can you first validate (or not) my assumption by trying with a simple WEP key ? Be aware that WEP is not secure and your connection can be hijacked by your computer tech neighbors But I guess a day or a couple of hours of testing will be Ok.

Hi again Joshua. That was a quick response. Vous tes trs gentil.. But, I must apologise. I'm not sure exactly what you are asking? If it helps, this is the data & voice terminal that I am using (although mine is with a different provider): Sony Ericsson W35

The firmware has not been upgraded. I have changed the encryption level & key a couple of times but it made no difference. Once again also, no other device that I own has had a disconneciton problem, and the router itself works flawlessly

Edit: I am going to change the setting on the router to WEP, with a simple password. Then connect my Z30. I will report back here within 24 hours or less

Update: I am now running on WEP. I live in a rural area with a sparse population so not too worried about leaving it that way for a day or two. The problem is that, as I've said, the connection trouble is intermittent. Sometimes it disappears for days. So I guess what I'm wondering is how this will help address the problem. Excuse my ignorance heheh.

I'm on Z30STA100-5/10.3.1.1154 and have always dealt with Wifi profiles getting disabled on their own in my house. I'm running a Rogers router in a Dumb device way (passes the Internet through without any router setup turned on, then I have a real router handling my network and finally using a Linksys as a wireless access point to extend my signal.

I have the Linksys set up using the same SAID and password and think that things get disabled when trying to jump from one signal to the next. The odd thing is though that my 2.4 and 5G connection both get disabled from time to time. I also experience it when I get in my car and my dash cam (with wifi) also disables itself from time to time.

Seems to be device related and wish there was a way to disable the auto disable option.
